Avaliação do conhecimento técnico, ético e legal de cirurgiões-dentistas no tratamento de crianças HIV soropositivas

O Cirurgião–Dentista, geralmente, é o primeiro profissional a se deparar com as manifestações bucais da AIDS em crianças. Este trabalho realizou uma pesquisa com 1040 Cirurgiões-Dentistas das redes pública e privada de assistência odontológica das cidades de Amparo e Campinas, através de questionário para a averiguação de conhecimento técnico e comportamento ético e legal do profissional no atendimento a estes pacientes. Para a análise estatística dos resultados foram usados os testes de Qui-Quadrado (χ2), e Razão de Máxima Verossimilhança (G2) e adotado nível de significânciade 5%. Os resultados mostraram-nos, entre outras coisas, que dentre aqueles que não se dispõem a atender crianças HIV soropositivas, a maioria (72,98%) não o faz porque não se sente capaz para tal atendimento. Assim, a atualização dos conhecimentos sobre o assunto e sobre as obrigações éticas e legais inerentes deve ser uma constante na prática clínica do cirurgião-dentista para que se possa verificar mudanças de comportamento desses profissionais.Downloads
